5th Feb Vadodara Marathon

The much awaited Vadodara Marathon was held on Sunday, 5th February 2012. Since the reporting time was 6.00 a.m, all the boarders were woken up at 4.45 a.m. and after a quick freshening up were in the bus ready to leave at 5.30 a.m. On the bus trip to the Vaccine Ground all were treated to a banana and a small packet of glucose biscuits.

Almost all the boarders were registered for the 5 km run. The grade 12 boys chose to do the 21kms marathon. At 7.15 a.m. after a short speech by the Chief Minister the Marathon was flagged off in the various categories. There were a number of foreign athletes who participated in the Marathon.

By 8.30 a.m. all the boarders (except the grade 12 boys) had finished the race and were all set to get back to school. Little did they know that a surprise awaited them ! All sat in the bus awaiting the ride back to school and a sumptuous breakfast as the race had taken a toll on the hunger for most. However, all were surprised to find that the bus was heading in the opposite direction and eventually halted outside the Ginger hotel. There they were briefed that it was going to be a buffet breakfast unlimited at a nominal cost and their joy knew no bounds.

It was the first time that we were out together for breakfast at a lovely hotel and all made the most of this trip eating to their hearts content. Meanwhile the grade 12 boys having completed their race were also taken by surprise when they were brought there after their race.

In the words of one of them, “this is one of the most memorable experiences of my life”.

Friday evening games – 3rd Feb

As winter was at its peak, we decided to have indoor games. Wedecided to play a team game- TIP THE BALL.Tip the ball, is a game in which you just tip the ball with the notebook, without holding it on the book from one basket to another. After practice for 10 min they began to play. We judged that tipping the ball was not easy and hence, asked them to hold the ball on their notebooks, which helped them get the ball from one side to another. The participants enjoyed the new game and each team fought to win.

The positions were as follows:

Avengers

Red Bulls

Iron Angels

Stallions

Ramat gammatma School Visit

The boarding girls (Bansree, Barsha & Shreya) wanted to reach out to the participants of the Ramatgamatma by taking them around the School. The students did this on 29th Jan 2012. The children enjoyed moving in the School campus and were very curious to see every nook and corner. The Library fascinated them the most.

They enjoyed thoroughly and wanted to spend more time in the Library. Taking a clue from here, we may take them on one of the Saturdays only to the Library.

Ramatgammatma Movie – Kids for Kids (CAS)

This Saturday for Ramat gamatmaa, the children were showed a short movie on the childhood of Lord Krishna. They were very excited, as it was in Gujarati. All of them understood and enjoyed the movie. After the movie they were served snacks. We also used this opportunity to teach them, about keeping the environment clean, and ensured they disposed of the plastics cups, banana peels, and cookie wrappers in the bin. It was indeed heartening  to see them enjoy  the short movie, as they all believe in Him.
